The Karen Praeger Children's Book Collection is located on the 1st floor of the library on the east side of the Research Help Desk along the north wall (windows facing the mountains).

Ask a librarian for help finding books by subject and age-appropriateness. If there are children's books you would like to see added to our collection, please make a recommendation for purchase.

The collection is named in honor of Karen Praeger, a long-time employee of Hayden Memorial Library.

Because of Karen's thoughtful nurturing efforts, the children's collection has grown in scope to become an essential support collection for students taking classes in Children's Literature (English 293), Literacy for Children (Child Development 120), Child Growth and Development (Psychology 206), and a variety of English as a Second Language classes.

Karen Praeger retired from the library on October 11, 2016. Books donated to or acquired by the library since then all have a bookplate inserted inside the front cover, commemorating Karen's love of children, books, and tea.
